Peter Sachs discovered this Portuguese wreck off the South African coast in 1979. Working as honorary associate for Marine Archaeology to the East London Museum,
Peterís team recovered 23 bronze cannon and other artifacts. Some of the cannon were a coronation gift from the Governor of Macao to King John of Portugal. They were carried as cargo.
Work on this wreck was done by special permit issued by the National Monuments Council of South Africa.
